The day has come, and now that your teeth have been adjusted and realigned into their new position, your braces can be removed. And here at Sabat Orthodontics, Dr. Michael Sabat and his caring staff want you to enjoy your brand-new smile for many years to come!
We want you to understand that there will still be some residual tension in the periodontal ligaments that are anchoring your teeth into their sockets. If this tension isn’t mitigated somehow, it can start to pull your teeth back out of alignment in a process known as “relapse.”
Each patient’s treatment is concluded with two sets of clear retainers that hold his or her teeth in alignment, thus maintaining that beautiful, new smile.
The retainer is made of a durable plastic material that is molded to fit perfectly over your teeth. Most of the time a casual observer won’t even notice you’re wearing it. And in certain cases, Dr. Michael Sabat might also recommend a bonded lingual retainer.
If you are due to have your braces removed, and you have questions about retainers in Parma or Brecksville, Ohio, we invite you to call Sabat Orthodontics at 440-845-3360 for Parma or 440-526-0175 for Brecksville.
